Isn't it bliss?

Oh, isn't it sweet, isn't it bliss

To lay at a young ones side;

to stroke his cheek, to pat his back

Whenever that sweet babe cried.

You've been his comfort, his only joy

For 9 months prior to this,

So when you're gone and "doing your thing"

Your entire self, he does miss.

To go to sleep, to spend the day,

He wants not any other.

He feels secure and right at home

When he's snuggled close to his mother.

To think that we've been told and told

It's not safe to sleep so close.

But isn't it what we've done before?

It's THIS my baby wants most.

My heart is soothed, my rest is good

when sleeping near my child.

Put walls between us, close the door,

and my mama heart goes wild.

I hear his breathing, I feel it warm

The skin upon my chest.

His tiny hands are curled so tight

And by my side they're pressed.

And when his stomach grumbles low,

He wakes and needs a drink,

I'm there! I wake, I feed him and

we're both asleep in a wink.

Just follow your heart, pretty mama.

Your instincts are all that you need.

For when it comes to your sweet lil babe

Your love is the greatest of seed.

Though the world may question

and scare your heart to fear,

Your mama heart knows what is best.

So you keep your baby near.
