Oh my heart,
the things you’ve been through.
Your family, your friends,
your acquaintances, not few.
You’ve ached and you’ve stretched
through these many years past,
moments you’ve wondered
how long it would last.
Through sorrow, through trial
you’ve come out on top.
So much joy, so much laughter,
sometimes non-stop.
You’ve married the Hooker,
boy, your heart grew for that!
You didn’t expect such a
joy to come from that.
Then you had Hazel,
oh what a blessing she is.
She’s sweet, she is witty,
she puts your heart in a tiz.
And now, oh my heart,
I’m asking once more,
even though it is scary,
can you open the door?
A little one's coming,
he’ll be cute as can be.
He’s going to need love,
and from you, don’t you see?
So, my strong heart
who does so much every day,
can we love him like Hazel?
C’mon, whaddya say?
It won’t be the same,
no, life will now differ
when there’s TWO little babies
to pass time so much swifter.
Oh, my heart, how I love
and I’m so proud of you.
You’re about to get stretched
as the kids become two!
You’ll take it in stride,
like you’ve done all the others.
I think this is why God
created the mothers.
