The Hooker Homestead was living up to its name this past weekend! We had Grammy and Grandpa Hooker come visit us!
They flew in on Saturday to watch "Romeo & Juliet", the opera Josh was in, but the day before the performance the Saturday show was cancelled due to the lead getting c*vid. Soooooo, they just came straight to our place and we got to party that much longer!
Sunday was the primary program, and we have a whopping 5 kids in our primary, but there was a visitor, so it filled the seats on the stand right up. 😁 So so cute to be in a small ward; the parents and siblings of the primary children got to sit with them on the stand and sing with them, which made it really special.
We gave them a true Homestead experience the next morning and had duck eggs, bacon, and toast. I gave them an even truer experience by throwing it all up on our hike for the morning. 😂 (I thought it was just being carsick, but turns out it was the beginning of a stomach bug ... bleh).
If you find yourself in the Bedford area and want a fun hike, the Donaldson Cave is pretty fun! A nice short, pretty, hike that has a natural cave with a secret tunnel that we haven't yet explored but plan to.
Upon arriving home, we discovered the man we hired to take down the tree close to our house had a little slip (literally) and our backyard was a little messy. Kyle was so kind to help us get the broken limb off our roof and cut down the extra branches hanging down.
We also spent time in Bloomington and got to see what Josh's life looks like when he's not at home (which, as a full-time grad student/part-time working student isn't very much!). He's such a cool guy, getting into such a prestigious University on a full scholarship. I'm so proud of him and everything he's accomplished so far and can't wait to see what else happens for him!
Hazel enjoyed having the house a little more exciting, as did we all!, and learned a fun new dance with Grammy. 🥰 We got lots of board and card games in, went bowling, and of course took them to some of our favorite restaurants.
What a great time! Truly, we love having family come see us.
